Based on positive feedback we received from the post “I need 500 Signs ASAP for our Interior Signage Program” we decide to turn the spotlight onto another heroic effort from SignGuy.

Our latest encounter that required a “dusting off our cape” involved a meeting with a client where we reviewed signage designs from their internal team and consultant.  Designing a signage and wayfinding program can be a challenging assignment, and experience is critical to the success of any super hero’s mission. The designs we reviewed were very nice — a great color palette was selected to complement the architectural interior design and the right color contrast for ADA signage guidelines was achieved.

However, the material specification was over the top, which quadrupled the fabrication costs of the signage solution. It was clear SignGuy needed to step in to help the client value-engineer the design to save money, reduce manufacturing time, and reduce long-term maintenance headaches.

SignGuy Hero: “The signage design is indeed fabulous and will work nicely in your facility – great work!  However, let’s review a few alterations to the interior signage program material specification and signage dimensions.”

Based on the look, an alternate more readily sourced material was recommended and accepted. It was a clear fix for this hero who has experience consulting with signage design and fabrication.

Sign Guy Signage Highlights:

• Expensive materials look great and add to a level of prestige to a building
• Often alternate materials can provide the same look at half of the cost
• Modify sign sizes, as needed to make sure materials are being maximized – reducing costs and waste
• Consider the re-order requirements to maintain the signage program – not only sourcing materials, but the cost of a smaller order as updates are needed

By making slight alterations to the materials and specifications of the interior signage program, it was a win – win for everyone.  We were able to reduce the sign dimensions and produce more signs per material sheet and still achieve the original intent of the signage design.

Rumor has it the client and community are going to provide SignGuy a key to the city(or maybe just the executive washroom or a nice Christmas card)  for this valiant effort; however at this time we cannot confirm if this will happen.  Either way we were glad to save some costs, materials and long-term headaches – all in a day for SignGuy.
