Compass: Modular Exterior Signage System Solves Wayfinding Challenges
In September 1998, a new exterior signage was born. Based on demand from the marketplace for a modular, durable and functional exterior signage and wayfinding signage solution that would serve all of the exterior signage needs for a facility, the Compass exterior signage system was created.
Over the past decade, Compass has been integrated into exterior campus settings all over the world. The Compass system not only served the usual needs of a primary and secondary identifications signage and directional signage, but it also introduced a trapezoid-shaped ID post that could be integrated into the graphic design of the sign. Designers were able to mix and match the traditional square and round posts with the signature trapezoid ID post and bring together a variety of graphic panel configurations to create a site-specific solution. Along with opening up design possibilities, Compass gives facility managers the functionality needed to accommodate ongoing changes to brand identity or wayfinding information.
Compass Materials:
- All essential components are made of aluminum – both sheet aluminum and extruded aluminum profiles.
Surface Treatment:
- All visible parts are painted using ASI’s standard oven-hardening polyester paint finish.
Furthermore, the trapezoid-shaped ID post has been broken out into a sub-set of the Compass system to assist in intermediate and secondary wayfinding communication on large master-planned campuses.
