Radiant Signage for School Campus
Opened in 2013, Young Audiences Charter School is an open-enrollment, arts-integrated charter school for Kindergarten through 10th Grade. The charter school will add a grade each year, with plans to eventually offer Pre-K through 12th Grade.
The Young Audiences Charter School recently constructed a state-of-the-art facility in Gretna, Louisiana, for middle and high school students. The new 25 million-dollar campus is conveniently located behind its former location. The building is situated over an 11-acre area with 177,000 square feet of space, including a theater and performance spaces, music studio, state-of-the-art classrooms, green spaces, sports facilities and art studio spaces.
ASI was brought on to implement interior and exterior signage for the building, including ADA signage and branding signage.
About the Solution
ASI’s scope for the exterior included a 110-foot sign with the school name and their logo, a sun, at a height of 20 feet. The sun logo was carried throughout the interior of the school on the 3D-printed ADA signs.
The two exterior signs were specified to be mounted to an existing steel structure composed of steel columns every 48 inches with no structural material between them. ASI was tasked with detailing the mounting methodology that would provide structural integrity. The reverse of the sign is exposed to a semi-enclosed play area for the students, so ASI also had to consider and design a visually pleasing backside to the sign.
Young Audiences Charter School facility is now radiant and bright, inside and out, just like their unique logo.
