Best of ASI 2019 Winners
The ASI Signage network is one of the largest architectural signage organizations in the US, with 500+ employees based out of 30 offices across the country. We have a wide-reaching audience and client base that is familiar with ASI due to our industry experience and strong reputation.
The Best of ASI Competition focuses on promoting and celebrating the year’s best signage design and creative products from the ASI Network. Its mission is to inspire fellow industry professionals and to showcase meaningful signage installations that bring spaces to life.
For the 2019 competition, Best of ASI received over 40 project nominations. Entries are judged by both ASI employees and distinguished external industry authorities. The top awards are for Bloom Award – the project voted Best Overall and People’s Choice Award – the project most voted for by ASI employees.
Winners are recognized as ASI’s most creative and inspired signage professionals. Judging for the Best of ASI Competition takes place in the First Quarter of the year. Following the selection of the winners, typically ASI will honor the Best of ASI recipients at our annual Sales Meeting and Awards Show at the ISA Conference and Expo. In 2019, due to the pandemic, ASI officially announced winners through social media and email campaigns from April to May.
In addition to inclusion on the Best of ASI Winners Announcement, all Winners received a Best of ASI showpiece trophy in which their project is engraved into crystal and illuminated from below with LED lighting.
Bloom Award - Missouri Veterans Memorial
Bloom Award – Missouri Veterans Memorial
ASI St. Louis was tasked with providing a solution for adding maintainable cast bronze letters in the reflecting pool. The concept was to install dimensional letters using standoffs so that they appear to be floating above the existing granite Missouri shape, just below the surface of the water. In order to accomplish the floating concept, 12 gauge, 316 stainless steel undersized letter bases were mechanically fastened to 5/8” diameter stainless steel standoff rods, which were mechanically fastened into the masonry and granite state shape.
People's Choice Award - NOCHI

Best Interior Solution – Old Metairie Branch Library
Old Metairie Branch Library interior scope includes ADA signage as well as wayfinding signs and a prominent feature wall – all of which accomplish the desired motif of the local landscape. The feature wall includes oversized sculpted blades of grass, flowers, insects, along with local wildlife and plants. Meetings with the Architect consisted of layering several thicknesses of materials for each creature and greenery to achieve the perfect three-dimensional look.
Best Exterior Solution - NYS Empire State Trail
Best Exterior Solution – NYS Empire State Trail
All elements of the NYS Empire State Trail project were completely custom. As ASI was working with the state, there were various specifications and modifications that needed to be made to meet the specific product requirements. Everything had to be precise as the design would be carried out across at least 6 sites. Not only did ASI have to engineer the kiosk to withstand the Buffalo winters, but ASI also had to consider and engineer for the environmental conditions in cities across New York.
Best Donor Recognition - Ava’s Wall at Camp Eisner
Best Donor Recognition – Ava’s Wall at Camp Eisner
When one of Camp Eisner’s past campers named Ava lost her battle with Leukemia, her family wanted to honor her in a special way. The vision was to represent the spirit of Ava with the image of a little girl blowing bubbles that would also provide a unique and meaningful way to recognize the camp’s generous donors. The design of the bubbles and the vinyl background also provides Camp Eisner with the ease of modifying and adding more bubbles as more donors contribute over time while still maintaining a complete and attractive look.

Best Branding Solution - Tomah Health
Best Branding Solution – Tomah Health
Tomah Health is a detailed Design-Build project – consisting of planning, design, production and installation – which involved interior, exterior and donor recognition signage for the new hospital campus in central Wisconsin to feature their new brand. Since Tomah Health shares a campus with another well-known regional healthcare organization, this added some difficulty to the exterior wayfinding as ASI needed to help the public and others differentiate between the two organizations.
