Best of ASI 2020 Winners
The ASI Signage network is one of the largest architectural signage organizations in the US, with 500+ employees based out of 30 offices across the country. We have a wide-reaching audience and client base that is familiar with ASI due to our industry experience and strong reputation.
The Best of ASI Competition focuses on promoting and celebrating the year’s best signage design and creative products from the ASI Network. Its mission is to inspire fellow industry professionals and to showcase meaningful signage installations that bring spaces to life.
For the 2020 competition, Best of ASI received over 30 project nominations. Entries are judged by both ASI employees and distinguished external industry authorities. The top awards are for Bloom Award – the project voted Best Overall and People’s Choice Award – the project most voted for by ASI employees.
Winners are recognized as ASI’s most creative and inspired signage professionals. Judging for the Best of ASI Competition takes place in the First Quarter of the year. Following the selection of the winners, typically ASI will honor the Best of ASI recipients at our annual Sales Meeting and Awards Show at the ISA Conference and Expo. In 2020, due to the pandemic, ASI officially announced winners through social media and email campaigns from April to May.
In addition to inclusion on the Best of ASI Winners Announcement, all Winners received a Best of ASI showpiece trophy in which their project is engraved into crystal and illuminated from below with LED lighting.
Bloom Award - Graco
Bloom Award – Graco
Branding was of the utmost importance on this project. ASI worked closely with the client, from developing prototypes and samples to coordination with the local municipality. The client requested that all hardware be concealed, including the channel letter backers, which were installed behind perforated metal scrims on the exterior of the building. The blue LED’s used in the channel letters are dimmable in order to coordinate with the blue exterior lighting that shines onto the building. Graco’s strong brand is at the forefront of this signage program.
People's Choice Award - SICSA
People’s Choice Award – SICSA
ASI proposed multiple options for the Client during the design phase. From those options, SICSA selected custom signage that included new branding. The selected custom design included acrylic room signs and flexible donor recognition solutions that recognize existing donors while creating space to include future donors. Permanent donor signage at key destinations and dimensional letters at other locations marked the largest one-time gifts. The bright signage at SICSA’s new facility is crafted specifically to support its mission into the future.
Best Interior Solution - Insight Global
Best Interior Solution – Insight Global
Design for the project was completed by a collaboration of solution partners. ASI worked closely with all parties to fabricate and install a comprehensive signage package consisting of cubicle signs, an illuminated reception area logo, privacy vinyl and vinyl wall graphics, among other unique and creative signage types. The new Insight Global headquarters are both modern and fresh. The unique signage brings an inspirational and welcoming feel to the facility, accentuating the client’s strong culture of community and hard work.

Best Donor Recognition - Appleton Arena
Best Donor Recognition – Appleton Arena
ASI’s goal was to combine historic elements of the arena with new designs while commemorating people and stories of the past. ASI was able to revitalize a historic plaque that had become weathered over time. The scope also included two prominent display walls. The “Legends of Appleton” wall celebrates those who have helped build the hockey tradition at St. Lawrence University. The main benefactor wall honors donors while showcasing key events of the past. ASI implemented signage that honors the past, compliments the donor program and promotes the school’s brand.
Best Innovative Solution - Young Audiences Charter School
Best Innovative Solution – Young Audiences Charter School
ASI’s scope for the exterior included a 110-foot sign with the school name and their logo, a sun, at a height of 20 feet. The sun logo was carried throughout the interior of the school on the 3D-printed ADA signs. The two exterior signs were mounted to an existing steel structure composed of steel columns with no structural material between them and ASI detailed the mounting methodology. The reverse of the sign is exposed, so ASI also had to consider and design a visually pleasing backside to the sign. Young Audiences Charter School facility is now radiant and bright, just like their unique logo.
