Honoring Students that Change the World
The Academy of the Sacred Heart is an all-girls, independent Catholic school in New Orleans, Louisiana. Founded in 1867, it is located in the Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans and is part of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools, an international organization with more than 150 schools worldwide.
The Mater Campus of the Academy of the Sacred Heart School is located on the corner of historic St. Charles and Napoleon Avenues. The 105,320 square-foot campus houses an auditorium, gym, kitchen, dining hall, library, chapel, art room, admission office, science lab, two computer labs and over 30 classrooms.
This project included the addition and renovation of the entrance to the Mater Campus of the Academy of the Sacred Heart School. ASI was brought on the design team early on to discuss branding opportunities.
About the Solution
The designers at Gould Evans proposed an intricate History Wall that highlighted the school’s religious and academic presence around the world.
This unique project included pull-out HPL panels incorporated into millwork that allow the students to playfully learn about their global network of schools and religious institutions. The map to the right of the millwork serves as a legend to the locations around the world. ASI remained in close contact with all parties to ensure seamless implementation of the system.
Other solutions include brass laminate letters, brass laminate panels with acrylic letters, and brass laminate restroom signs. Like the city itself, The Academy of the Sacred Heart is characterized by change, but it remains a harmonious blending of the old with the new.
